Environmental advocate and Professional
Claire is an environmental advocate, journalist, and professional with a primary focus on equity and inclusion in the climate movement, clear and engaging climate communication, and equitable outdoor access.
Her experience has spanned land management agencies, academic research, environmental journalism, and non-profit work.
Agencies she has worked for include:
2019: Project Drawdown x Penn State University
Claire participated in a competitive undergraduate research program where she integrated climate solutions proposed by Project Drawdown into foundational engineering courses for first-year students at Penn State University. She presented her work at the inaugural international conference – Research to Action: The Science of Drawdown – in the Fall of 2019.
2020: Arizona Conservation Corps (AZCC)
From September – December Claire served as a leadership development crew member in the White Mountains of Arizona. Here, Claire gained valuable insight into the “on the ground” tasks that non-profits and public land managers deal with daily, including the technical minutia of trail construction to the logistics of effective field management. Claire’s AZCC crew was also specifically trained in leadership fundamentals to better prepare the cohort for public land and non-profit management.
2021: Bureau of Land Management
As an intern from April – August 2021 Claire worked within the recreation department to help ensure the efficient management of 377,900 acres of public lands from the field office based in Kremmling, Co.
Claire orchestrated public outreach opportunities, assisted with human-animal conflict resolution, and travel management in the region.
2018 – 2023 Colorado College
Claire has been an active and dedicated environmental studies student at Colorado College. She has completed research on topics ranging from climate migration and mitigation to the disproportionate impacts that homeless populations face to climate events.
